Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts speaks with the York Road Partnership on Wednesday night.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts said he believes race plays a role in how we view crime in some parts of the city.

"I think the city of Baltimore has a racial issue," Batts told members of the York Road Partnership last week.

Batts’ comments came as he was speaking about trying to get residents to view Baltimore as one city, as opposed to individual sections and neighborhoods when it comes to crime.

"Those people who are killing themselves over there, let them kill themselves as long as they don’t come into my neighborhood," Batts said about how some residents view crime.

Do you believe race plays a role in how residents view crime in Baltimore? Tell us in the comments.
