A Baltimore firefighter, who once worked in Hampden, has been indicted on federal sex trafficking charges.

Jamar Marvin Simmons, 33, a city firefighter, was ordered detained for allegedly running a sex trafficking ring after a grand jury returned an indictment on Feb. 13. Franklin Roosevelt Coit, 34, was also indicted on the same charges.

Between July 2009 and July 2012 Simmons and Coit allegedly ran a brothel in the city and arranged to transport women—including at least one minor—across state lines to be prostituted, according to a news release from United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein's office.

Both men face maximum sentences of five years in prison for conspiracy; life in prison for conspiracy to commit sex trafficking; life in prison for sex trafficking a minor; 20 years for enticing or coercing individuals to engage in prostitution; and 10 years for interstate transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

The charges against Simmons first came to light in August 2012.
