Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver will be remembered in a public celebration on April 20 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the Orioles recently announced.
The event, celebrating the life of the long-time manager who passed away in January at the age of 82, will be free to the public.
The celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on April 20, featuring a video tribute and a host of guest speakers, including former players Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson and Rick Dempsey. Current Orioles manager Buck Showalter will also speak.
Also scheduled to speak are National Baseball Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson, and Weaver's son, Mike Weaver.
The event will be held separate from the Orioles game against the Dodgers that evening. Gates A and H will open at 1 p.m., with complimentary parking in Lot B/C. The ballpark will close upon the conclusion of the celebration, and reopen at 5 p.m. for the game.
The club unveiled a statue in Weaver's likeness last season, and the Orioles will wear a patch on the right uniform sleeve this season to honor the fan favorite.
