(UPDATED 10:52 a.m., Friday)—Baltimore police are calling a shooting near Homeland "minor."
Police reported via social media, at about 4:30 p.m., Thursday that an adult male was shot in the 5400 block of York Road.
Det. Vernon Davis, a police spokesman, said the man was shot in his "lower extremities" and taken to an area hospital and treated.
Davis said there was no further information available about a possible motive for the shooting, or any details about the shooter available.
The incident occurred less than a day later, and a block away, from where Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts spoke to residents about crime in the area, and discussed having residents help neighborhoods in the Western District struggling with crime.
This area of North Baltimore has seen several incidents of robbery and home invasions involving guns in recent months.
During a York Road Partnership meeting Wednesday Sgt. John Fernandez said police suspect one man is behind the string of robberies.
