The organizers of Hampden Hi-Fi, the outdoor concert series that launched last summer, is looking for sponsors to help pay to put on the events again this year.
Genny Dill, one of the organizers, said the concert series cost about $20,000 to put on last year, and that one of the 2012 sponsors has already backed out.
"It’s all volunteers. We’re just trying to organize this after work and on the weekends. We just need more hands—and money," Dill said.
Although, there may be some changes in how the festival is run this year. Last year the festival ran for eight weeks, but this year organizers are considering paring it down to only four weeks starting in June.
Dill also said the organizers are also considering shifting the concerts from Friday nights at Roosevelt Park, to longer events on Saturday.
"Instead of being three hours after work we’re considering Saturday evenings and afternoons [to create] a more music festival type of atmosphere," she said.
The festival is also considering trying to bring performers from a wider genre of music into play, as well as giving new performers a chance to participate.
"We continue to be family friendly. We’re still in that category, but in terms of genre we’d like to spread it out a little," Dill said.
