Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, who represents parts of Hampden, Roland Park and Tuscany-Canterbury, voted in favor amendments that would have cut $6.1 million from Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's $2.8 billion budget. After the council voted 9-5 against the amended budget Clarke made a last ditch attempt, and asked for a motion to end the session so members could find out what amendments could be saved, but was defeated.

The Department of Public Works will be hosting two community meetings for residents whose property may be impacted by upcoming waste water improvements.

According to an email from Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, work to improve the city’s was water system as dictated by a consent decree with the federal government will begin in spring 2013.

The city will hold two meetings in North Baltimore to take with residents about how the work may impact their property.

The first meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., on Dec. 11 at the Academy for College and Career Exploration, 1300 W. 36thSt. in Hampden.

The second meeting is set for 6 p.m., Dec. 12 at Johns Hopkins University at Eastern, 1101 E. 33rd St. in Waverly.

Residents who have property that will be accessed to complete the work should have received a letter from the city last summer and fall, according to Clarke’s email.
